Butte Literacy Council Read-a-Thon

Butte Literacy Council's Read-a-Thon is their major annual fund-raiser. Held each Fall, this five-day reading marathon takes place at Safeway supermarket on Mangrove Avenue in Chico. Local residents volunteer for blocks of time to read aloud selections from favorite novelists, poets, or their own works. Readers are of all ages and from various walks of life; students, professionals, homemakers, retirees, and teachers participate to share their pleasure in reading and to obtain funds to support the council's programs.

Donations can be made at the BLC table or mailed to Butte Literacy Council, P.O. Box 7064, Chico, CA 95927.

This year includes a special Saturday reading at Barnes & Nobel, Time TBA.
